CITYSCAPE

There is something about the scale of the city that never ceases to amaze me. I have been taking photos of Philadelphia for years now, and the sight of the skyline still excites me. Most of the images in this gallery were shot from the rooftops of the city. Although similar perspectives can be obtained via drone, the experience of seeing these views with my own eyes can not be replaced.

EXPLORATION

Adventure is what originally inspired me to pick up a camera. Growing up in my hometown, I would climb anything I could. Trees, water towers, cell towers, you name it. When I moved to Philadelphia for school, I felt like I had entered an enormous concrete playground, and I was eager to explore it. After climbing one notable building at night, I realized the limitations of my iPhone. I did some research on how to take photos at night, and that led me to acquiring my first DSLR camera. This gallery includes abandoned locations and rooftops across the USA.

STREET

Exploring the rooftops of the city is what originally inspired me to pick up a camera, but eventually I realized there was more to photography. You don’t need a good “spot” for a good photo. With a unique perspective, I can show every day city streets in a new way. My focus when shooting photos in the streets is on light, unique weather conditions, and simple compositions.

PORTRAIT

As my passion for photography grew over the years, I branched out into taking portraits. This style of photography is different in every way from shooting buildings, and it has been a fun creative challenge. I have become comfortable working with subjects, and giving directions. Of course, the fundamentals still apply. I focus mainly on light and composition when considering portrait photography.
