Project Statement
The urban fabric of Philadelphia is defined by its rowhome typology. Two to three stories, 15-20 feet wide. Within this consistent format, there is a remarkable amount of architectural variety that makes each home unique. Many of these structures have been standing for over 100 years, and for some, that time has started to show.
These visuals are all photo composites, created from several images taken in Philadelphia neighborhoods. The intention of the project is not to show reality, but rather to present each individual home in a consistent and graphic style. Power lines, parked cars, and surrounding houses (If present) are removed to consistently present the architectural character of each home without distraction.
The project has raised over $20,000 for preserving historic architecture in neighborhoods of the city and to assist people experiencing homelessness in Philadelphia.
Opensea NFT Series
This project was born originally as a 1/1 NFT series hosted on opensea. I was inspired by projects like “Carpoolers” by Alejandro Cartagena. Prior to getting involved with NFTs, I began fixating on rowhomes, experimenting with stitching different elements of homes together. Once I saw the boom of photography series in the NFT space, I knew this project would be perfect. One of the elements of this series that was very intentional is the idea of presenting each subject consistently. The goal of the project is to showcase the unique character of historic Philadelphian homes, so I isolated that as a variable.
